Couples who decide to enter into therapy are far too often at the point of crisis. There is currently more pressure than ever on partners to “be everything” for each other, with a lack of community support to nurture these important relationships. I believe that healthy relationships are imperative to our overall health. Couples therapy is an investment. You'll want to make sure you receive effective, clinically researched, cost-effective therapy. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I will work with you on new ways of seeing yourself, your partner and the relationship in order to gain insight into your current patterns and learn new possibilities for preferred patterns of connecting and finding support.
Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT-C):
Is for couples who want to break free from frustrating cycles that never end
Decreases distress, pain and illness through increasing partners' abilities to reach out, make contact, and feel secure
Is clinically proven to be 75% successful in restoring emotional connection and satisfaction in relationships
Has been validated by over 25 years of empirical research
Is effective in addressing various difficulties including infidelity, breach of trust, trauma, change and loss
When you contact me for couple’s therapy, we’ll schedule an hour-long introductory appointment. We’ll begin by talking about what brings you to seek support, and I’ll take a short history of how you met, your mutual pasts, and begin to understand your goals for therapy and patterns of disconnecting from each other. I may assign short pieces of homework for the couple to work on, depending on the couple’s preference. If possible, I meet with couples on a weekly basis for 6-10 sessions and then assess our progress on stated goals, distress in the relationship and feelings of closeness and connection.
In Individual Therapy, I work with you to build a solid foundation of trust, respect and security so you feel comfortable enough to address the painful reasons you are seeking support in therapy.
You are unique, and my approach to you, though informed by my training and research, will be as unique as you are.
Individual sessions are $145.00 for 60 minutes
Couples sessions are $160.00 for 60 minutes
You can provide payment through e-transfer or credit card.
If you have an extended healthcare plan through your employer or insurer, you may be covered for therapy sessions with a registered psychotherapist or an occupational therapist. OHIP does not cover these sessions. Check with your employer or your insurer to determine if you are covered to see a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), or an Occupational Therapist (OT). The psychotherapy I provide falls within the scope of both RP and OT professions.
Occupational Therapy is a permitted medical expense under the Canada Revenue Agency medical tax credit.
